Whales

When whales are born, they look like their mother. Whales use their flippers to swim and the big whale weighs about 30 elephants put together. Whales have smooth oily skin.

Whales eat 8 tonnes of food per day. They eat fish, squids, seals and dolphins.

When whales breathe, they blow water up to 10 metres high through their nostrils. Their nostril is called a blow hole and it is on the whale’s head.

Whales live in the deep blue sea. Whales can jump high and dive back in to the water and splash waves. They can put their tail out of the water and splash waves. Whales can swim fast in the water.

There are 2 groups of whales. One group has no teeth and one group has teeth. The group without teeth have bristles instead. They eat by swallowing small fish and other sea animals. The whales with teeth like eating squids, seals and dolphins.
